Ingredients:

  • 1 cup water
  • 1/4 cup unsalted butter
  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • Vegetable oil, for frying
  • Cinnamon sugar, for dusting

Instructions:

  1. In a medium saucepan, combine the water, butter, and sugar. Bring to a boil over medium heat.
  2. Remove from heat and stir in the flour until a dough forms.
  3. Let the dough cool slightly, then stir in the egg and vanilla extract.
  4. Transfer the dough to a piping bag fitted with a star tip.
  5. Heat the vegetable oil in a large saucepan or deep fryer to 375 degrees F.
  6. Pipe the dough into 6-inch long strips into the hot oil.
  7. Fry the churros in batches for 2-3 minutes per side, or until golden brown.
  8. Remove the churros from the oil and drain on paper towels.
  9. Dust the churros with cinnamon sugar and serve immediately.

Tips:

  • For a crispier churro, let the dough rest for 30 minutes before frying.
  • To make the churros ahead of time, fry them and then let them cool completely. Store them in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 2 days. Reheat them in a 350 degree F oven for 5-7 minutes before serving.
  • Garnish the churros with your favorite toppings, such as whipped cream, chocolate sauce, or sprinkles.

Enjoy!
