Eclair Recipe: A Delicious and Elegant Dessert

Eclair

Eclairs are a classic French dessert that are made with choux pastry and filled with pastry cream. They can be topped with chocolate ganache, whipped cream, or your favorite frosting.

Ingredients

  • 1 cup water
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 8 tablespoons unsalted butter
  • 1 tablespoon sugar
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 4 large eggs
  • Pastry cream, for filling
  • Chocolate ganache, for topping (optional)
  • Whipped cream, for topping (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 425 degrees F (220 degrees C).
  2. In a medium saucepan, combine water, milk, butter, sugar, and salt. Bring to a boil over medium heat.
  3. Remove from heat and immediately stir in flour until smooth.
  4. Return to heat and cook, stirring constantly, for 1 minute.
  5. Transfer dough to a large bowl and let cool slightly.
  6. Beat in eggs one at a time, beating well after each addition.
  7. Transfer dough to a pastry bag fitted with a star tip.
  8. Pipe dough into 3-inch long, 1-inch wide strips onto a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
  9. Bake for 15-20 minutes, or until golden brown.
  10. Let eclairs cool completely.
  11. Fill eclairs with pastry cream.
  12. Top with chocolate ganache or whipped cream, if desired.

Tips

  • For a more flavorful eclair, use a combination of all-purpose flour and bread flour.
  • To prevent eclairs from cracking, make sure to not overmix the dough.
  • To make chocolate eclairs, add 1/4 cup of cocoa powder to the dough.
  • To make a variety of flavors, try different fillings such as vanilla pastry cream, chocolate pastry cream, or custard.
  • To make a fun and festive dessert, decorate eclairs with sprinkles, chocolate shavings, or edible glitter.

Enjoy!
