Sticky Toffee Pudding |
Sticky toffee pudding is a delicious and easy-to-make dessert. It is made with a moist sponge cake that is soaked in a sticky toffee sauce. The pudding is then topped with whipped cream and served warm.
Ingredients
- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- 1/2 cup packed light brown sugar
- 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
- 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 cup butter, softened
- 1 egg
- 1/2 cup milk
- 1/2 cup golden syrup
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C). Grease and flour a 9x5 inch loaf pan.
- In a medium bowl, whisk together the flour, brown sugar, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.
- In a large bowl, cream together the butter and egg until light and fluffy. Beat in the milk and golden syrup until combined.
- Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, mixing until just combined.
- Pour the batter into the prepared loaf pan and bake for 30-35 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
- While the pudding is baking, make the toffee sauce. In a medium saucepan, combine the butter, brown sugar, and golden syrup. Bring to a boil over medium heat, stirring constantly. Reduce heat to low and simmer for 5 minutes, or until thickened.
- Remove the pudding from the oven and let it cool for 10 minutes before inverting it onto a serving plate. Cut the pudding into slices and serve warm with the toffee sauce.
Tips
- To make the pudding ahead of time, bake it according to the instructions and let it cool completely. Wrap it tightly in plastic wrap and refrigerate for up to 2 days. When you are ready to serve, unwrap the pudding and let it sit at room temperature for 30 minutes before cutting into it.
- If you don't have golden syrup, you can substitute light corn syrup.
- To make a vegan version of the pudding, use vegan butter and milk.
