Caramel Sauce

This delicious Caramel Sauce is easy to make and perfect for drizzling over ice cream, cake, or fruit. It's also great for making caramel apples or dipping donuts.

Ingredients:

  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/4 cup heavy cream
  • 1/4 cup butter
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon vanilla extract

Instructions:

  1. In a medium saucepan, combine the sugar and heavy cream.
  2. Cook over medium heat, stirring occasionally, until the sugar dissolves and the mixture comes to a boil.
  3. Reduce heat to low and simmer for 10-15 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the sauce thickens and turns a deep amber color.
  4. Remove from heat and stir in the butter, salt, and vanilla extract.
  5. Let cool slightly before serving.

Tips:

  • For a richer flavor, use brown sugar instead of granulated sugar.
  • To make the sauce ahead of time, let it cool completely and then store it in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 2 weeks. When you're ready to serve, reheat the sauce over low heat until it's warmed through.
  • If you want to make a thicker caramel sauce, cook it for a longer period of time, stirring occasionally, until it reaches the desired consistency.
  • To make a thinner caramel sauce, add more heavy cream or milk.
  • Caramel sauce can be used for a variety of desserts, including ice cream, cake, fruit, caramel apples, and donuts.

Enjoy!
