This easy Huckleberry Pie recipe is the perfect way to enjoy the tart and sweet flavor of huckleberries. It's simple to make and can be customized to your liking.
Ingredients:
- 1 (9-inch) pie crust, pre-baked
- 4 cups huckleberries, fresh or frozen
- 1/2 cup sugar
- 1 tablespoon cornstarch
- 1/4 teaspoon ground cinnamon
- 1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg
Instructions:
- In a medium bowl, combine huckleberries, sugar, cornstarch, cinnamon, and nutmeg.
- Pour huckleberry mixture into pre-baked pie crust.
- Dot with butter.
- Bake at 375 degrees F (190 degrees C) for 45 minutes, or until filling is bubbly and crust is golden brown.
- Let cool completely before serving.
Tips:
- For a richer flavor, use half whole wheat flour and half all-purpose flour in your pie crust.
- If you don't have any huckleberries on hand, you can substitute blueberries or raspberries.
- To make your own pie crust, simply combine 1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour, 1/2 teaspoon salt, and 1/2 cup cold butter in a food processor. Pulse until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs. Add 1/4 cup ice water and pulse until the dough just comes together.
